New to Diving:

Learn to Scuba

Have you always wanted to Scuba dive? Start your adventure towards becoming a NAUI Scuba Diver through this comprehensive introductory program. Your classroom and pool training will prepare you to be able to complete open water dives for a certification level to a depth of 18m/60ft.

Try Scuba

This one-night course provides participants with a basic orientation to scuba diving from the safety of the pool. Participants are paired with an experienced instructor who will take you on a first dive tailored to your comfort level.

For Certified Divers:

Welcome SCUBA

Welcome SCUBA is a one-evening event for UofT students who already have a current scuba diving certification. This event consists of a classroom safety and activity briefing, an underwater challenge to be done in the pool on scuba, and a follow-up social. All scuba gear, including mask and fins will be provided by the Club for the event. Fall term HHUC membership is also included!

NAUI Enriched Air NITROX

Do you want to extend your bottom time, lessen your surface interval, and maximize every dive? During this course, you will learn how to choose and analyze the proper blend of nitrogen-enriched air for your dive profile, determine maximum depth limits for your gas mixture, and plan and safely execute each dive.

NAUI Rescue Diver

Learn how to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies, how to assist and transport divers, and how to perform surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat and shore based skin and scuba divers. Included is the compulsory NAUI Health Care Provider with CPR, First Aid & O2 course.  All participants must be in good health and be previously certified as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent.

NAUI/DAN CPR Healthcare Provider with First Aid and O2

This course will teach you team care CPR and first-aid skills including one- and two-person CPR for adults. Learn to recognize the signs and symptoms associated with cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and respiratory arrest and proper methods of shock and wound management. This course includes a module for O2 administration for SCUBA divers. You may take this one-day course on its own, or as a compulsory component of the Rescue SCUBA Diver Course. This course is open to both HHUC members and the general public. The minimum age required to attend this course is 18.

When there is sufficient interest, we also offer additional higher-level and NAUI leadership-level certifications, such as:

    • NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver
    • NAUI Master Diver
    • NAUI Divemaster
    • NAUI Instructor

Underwater Fitness and Water Sports (Scuba Certification not Required):

Diving Fitness and Snorkelling

Love to swim and want to stay underwater longer? Enhance your physical fitness and enjoy the freedom of experiencing the underwater world with only a mask, fins and snorkel. Perfect for anyone looking to build comfort and endurance through personalized coaching and structured training. This program will improve and maintain your fitness for scuba, skin diving, and in general. (Non-certification course; open to HHUC members only)

Underwater Hockey

The Hart House Underwater Club is partnering with Toronto Underwater Hockey to bring you UWH training sessions right here at Hart House! The sessions will consist of introductory training of underwater hockey skills, followed by a game. This sport puts all your underwater skills to the test and is hours of fun. Beginners are welcome!
