Recognition Night Tickets on Sale!

We are pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for the HHUC’s Annual Recognition Night!

We hope you will join us to catch up with old friends and meet new ones as we celebrate the year’s accomplishments and highlights! There will be food, prizes and a cash bar!

Date: Saturday, Oct. 20th, 2018
Time: 7:30 – 11 p.m.
Place: Hart House, Debates Room

Prices are as follows:

Early Bird (until Oct.1)

$15 – HHUC Members (not UofT students)
$10 – UofT students and Learn to Scuba course students

Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at (416) 978-8849 or in person at the Hart House Ticket Office.

** Tickets will also be available at the door. However, if you purchase an early bird or advance sale ticket, your name will be entered in a special prize draw for advance ticket holders!

Each ticket holder will receive one free drink ticket at the event, after which there is a cash-only bar. Prize draw tickets will also be available for purchase at the event (also cash only, please).

Please note: Every event sold through Hart House Tickets has the following patron fees:

In person – $1 per ticket (up to a maximum of 4 tickets)
By phone & online – $3 per ticket (up to a maximum of 4 tickets)

2018-19 Membership Sales Open!

Hart House Underwater Club membership sales are now open for the 2018-19 year. In order to join or renew, please complete the membership form and waiver and submit it to the Hart House Hub (front desk) along with your payment.
We have many exciting courses and events planned for this Fall and we hope to see you there! Check out our Facebook page for more info on our upcoming events.
We also hope you’ll be able to join us at our first social event of the year, “Welcome Back Game Night” to catch up with each other, and meet with potential new members and students:

For those interested in coming by earlier, the HHUC will be hosting our Annual General meeting from 6-7 p.m. in the South Sitting Room, just before the Recognition Night begins. All are welcome. Learn to SCUBA dive – Registration is OPEN

Earn your NAUI SCUBA diver certification!

Try SCUBA diving – Registration is OPEN

This one-evening course provides participants with a basic orientation to scuba diving from the safety of the pool. Participants are paired with an experienced instructor who will take you on a first dive tailored to your comfort level.

Try SCUBA will be offered on the following dates:

  • Sept 18, 2018 – Registration now Open
  • Oct 2, 2018 – Registration now Open
  • Oct 30, 2018 – Registration now Open
  • Dec 4, 2018 – Pending
  • Jan 15, 2019 – Pending

Fees:
$40+HST for UofT students and Hart House Athletic members.
$60+HST for the general public.

Dive: The Sligo (Humber Bay)

Join HHUC for evening boat dives in our very own city waters. Located at the centre of Humber Bay lies the fantastic shipwreck Sligo.

Explore the steering wheel, anchor, donkey boiler, and more.  Max depth 70 feet. This is considered cold-water diving. A 2-piece 7mm wetsuit or drysuit is recommended.

Registration is now open. Two dates and times are available.

Rescue SCUBA diver

Once you are a certified scuba diver, you can expand your diving knowledge with a NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver course. Learn how to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies, how to assist and transport divers, and how to perform surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat and shore based skin and scuba divers. Included is the CPR Health Care Provider with First Aid + Oxygen Administration course. This is a compulsory requirement of this course.

Your Rescue Scuba Diver certification is a critical step in your pathway to becoming a NAUI Leader should you plan to pursue additional certifications like Skin Diving Instructor, Assistant Instructor, Divemaster, or Instructor in the future.

All participants must be in good health and be previously certified as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent. This course is open to both HHUC members and the general public. The minimum age required to attend this course is 18.

Participants must be members in good standing of the Ontario Underwater Council (OUC). OUC memberships cost an additional $40.00 and may be obtained at the start of the course if needed.

Fees:
Members: $249+HST
General Public: $359+HST

August 11, 2018 – 9am – 5:30pm
August 12, 2018 – 12pm – 9pm (approx.)
August 25, 2018 – 9am – 5:30pm

CPR Health Care Provider with First Aid & O2

Powered by DAN, this course will teach you team care CPR and first-aid skills including one and two-person CPR for adults. Learn to recognize the signs and symptoms associated with cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and respiratory arrest and proper methods of shock and wound management. This course includes a module for O2 administration for SCUBA divers.  You may take this one-day course on its own, or as a compulsory component of the Rescue SCUBA Diver Course. This course is open to both HHUC members and the general public. The minimum age required to attend this course is 18.

Fees:
Members:  $90+HST
General public: $150+HST
